Based off of the manga Hataraku Saibou is similar to the American animated movie Osmosis Jones. It is a story about YOUR body and what goes on inside it. It follows a red blood cell as she goes about her daily work (delivering CO2 to the lungs in episode 1). Unlike the American work, Cells at Work is more detailed with medical terminology making it entertaining AND educational, nor does it have washed up D-list actors. The action is comedic and brutal at the same time, with the white blood cells killing any invading germ or pathogen sometimes in the most brutal fashion.
Fans of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure will appreciate the latest from David Productions. We found the anime to be light hearted yet educational. Who knew the white blood cells were so serious? This is an anime the entire family can enjoy. We did and we think you will too.
